At Plexus, we’re making a religion-replacement for young adults in big cities.
Highly individual young adults, especially post-school in big cities, are seeking a religion-replacement. They want community, ritual, and reflection without dogma, authority, and auditoriums.
There is no way in hell they’ll conform in order to belong. But political parties, religious communities, towns, and schools all ask for intense conformity.
Plexus offers the inverse: belonging without conformity, a radically inclusive online space that helps members belong not in spite, but because, of idiosyncrasy.
There are two pieces.
Software.
- A text-based software experience called Voices. Walking helps people think through the things that are on their mind, and connect with peers who share their context as they do so. Our testers say it helps them think and connect with others through their thinking.
Ritual.
- Daily Walking prompts—questions which we’ve never been asked before
- Phone calls on Sunday—where folks who’ve listened to Voices Strangers and find themselves curious hop on 1-3 short calls
- (+ possibly more, for you to invent)
Plexus’ Head of Community will be responsible for bringing new individuals into the Voices movement, and making the existing community feel unprecedentedly cared for. Cared for like this is a religious space, not a tech startup.
